  • The first, AiA’s 27th annual Discovery Camp, features a Children’s Theatre Production entitled, Jumbie Birds at the end of the July cycle, while the other is the group’s Technical Theatre Arts programme entitled, Discovery by Design 2018.
  • Artistic director Patrice Briggs said this is the first year that the end of cycle dramatic production has been opened to the public, rather than just family and friends.
  • The tradition of Arts-in-Action’s Children’s Discovery Camp has always been one where the engagement in the arts disciplines is what the children are exposed to while working towards some sort of presentation or artistic product/display of their process over the time period that we journey/discover with them.

  • Location #1: North - Desperadoes Youth Orchestra, Port-of-Spain in steelpan.
  • Location #2: East - SWAHA Hindu College Sangre Grande in the tabla and harmonium
  • Location #3: East - Pan Jammers, Upper Santa Cruz in steelpan, woodwind and brass instruments.
  • Location #4: South - Siparia Deltones, will focus on steelpan.
  • Location #5: South - Golden Hands, San Fernando, the programme includes steelpan, woodwind and brass instruments.
  • This initiative, which provides formal musical training to students across Trinidad, is open to individuals of all ages with intermediate knowledge level of music.
  • In 2018, the programme, focuses on students 12 to 18 years and has been re-designed to include a scholarship programme which gives students an opportunity to further develop their skills in a community based music school, an internship programme with the NSSO and the National Philharmonic Orchestra (NPO) and a capacity-building programme aimed at developing the management capability of cultural and artistic community organizations and individuals.
  • Music Schools in the Community is focused on teaching, developing and enhancing instrument performance skills, theoretical knowledge and character development training while providing opportunities for participants to increase their personal, socially-useful and even commercially viable talent.

Each sport provides an opportunity to use different movements, physical and mental abilities, increase fitness and gain confidence. Kids may discover their passion for a few sports rather than just one sport.

  • The cost of the workshop is $600 per week plus a registration fee of $150. Students will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis. Enrolment is limited.
  • In keeping with the introduction of the new Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA), participants will explore Mathematics and English Language Arts through the systems and interactions of a holistic market.
  • The workshop will encourage students to apply both critical thinking and creativity to mental mathematics, problem solving, story/report writing and comprehension.
  • Supervision will be provided at no extra cost from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.

  • Students that are interested in exploring jazz performance and improvisation. Students should have at least one year of practical experience on trumpet, trombone, saxophone, clarinet, flute or guitar.
  • This year’s cadre of professional jazz musicians will include Rellon Brown (trumpet); Daniel Ryan (saxophone, clarinet, flute); Joshua Pasqual (trombone); and, Seth Escalante (guitar).
  • Jazz atelier sessions will be scheduled Tuesday and Thursdays from 4 pm to 6 pm,

  • Alcons Soccer AcademySoccer Camp

  • The participants will be provided with football education and exquisite exposure through the tutoring of the Alvin Corneal, a former Fifa and national coach. He’s also a former FIFA coaching Instructor to coaches and students from across the world. His partner will be the current Technical Director of the TTFA, Anton Corneal, and a number of trained coaches will also be present to share their knowledge and experience.
  • The regular campers register annually of the past will attend for a nominal fee as they always have over the years.
  • The communities within the vicinity of the eastern region are offered an amount of 30 kids to attend with an entry of first come first served, either by calling 468-9114, 682-5346, or 714-3141, or dropping by the venue at 8.00 am sharp on the morning of the first day of camp.
  • As has always been the case of the Alcons, their organisation has been offering to the youngsters who attend their academy free tuition for their everyday attendance in the St. Joseph Training Ground.
  • Balls will be available for use while water, beverages and snacks will be supplied by two of the camps’ generous supporting companies of Malta Carib Alcons, Kiss Baking Co. Ltd. and Spike.
  • Zante Carnival & Theatre Arts Camp ( Indigenous Creative Arts Network - ICAN)Arts Camp

  • Location: 63 Carlos Street, Woodbrook
  • Ages: 6 yrs to 12 yrs.
  • Activities being taught at the camp are wire-bending, mask-making, papier-mache, drumming, dancing and the creation of traditional Carnival characters.
