As the heat wave phenomenon becomes a reality, the public is urged to follow these tips to avoid falling victim to a heat stroke.
-Stay tuned to weather alerts and forecasts daily. -If possible, avoid sun exposure between 11 am and 4 pm. -Take frequent breaks if you must work outdoors. -Do not leave children, older persons or animals in parked vehicles. -Check on animals regularly. Ensure they have adequate water and are kept out of the sun. -Do not exercise or engage in intense outdoor activities without proper protection. -Be sure to drink water every two hours, even if you aren’t thirsty. -Eat small meals and eat more often. -Wear loose-fitting, lightweight, light-colored clothing. Avoid dark colors because they absorb the sun’s rays. -Visit locations where air-conditioning is available such as malls, libraries and restaurants. -Keep the home cool by covering windows during the day and using air conditioners or fans during the hottest hours. -If you have a chronic disease and take drugs, consult your doctor. edited from... 12 tips to avoid heat stroke Loop Lifestyle Created : 17 July 2019 http://www.looptt.com/content/12-tips-avoid-heat-stroke-4 |
